Janet is a certified GYROKINESIS® and GYROTONIC® trainer, receiving her own training in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Miami. She is also a professional contemporary dancer, choreographer, presenter and teacher.
Formerly from the Toronto professional dance community, Janet has resided in the Guelph area for the last sixteen years where she has helped to build a strong dance community. She co-founded Guelph Dance, as well as the Guelph Youth Dance Training Program and Guelph Youth Dance Company & is currently a co-artistic director of the latter two as well as Portal Dance.
Janet is an avid teacher in the Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo area and has received regular funding from the Ontario Arts Council’s Artists-in-Education program. She has instructed at George Brown College, University of Waterloo, McMaster and York University. From 1998 until 2012, Janet was a company member with Dancetheatre David Earle and in 2011, she formed her own dance company, Portal Dance Project. Janet has created and presented her own choreographic works across Canada and has danced with a diverse collection of choreographers from Guelph, Toronto & Montreal.
Janet received her MA in Dance in 2010 and has recently become certified in Conditioning with Imagery, a new movement system for the training of dancers.
